US State to host interactive talk ‘Transparency in government’

Santo Domingo.- The US State Dept. will host an interactive talk on transparency in government starting 3pm Wednesday and the US Embassy is encouraging participation in the activity conducted on the Web.

The talk is aimed at journalists, community activists, NGO professionals and “other people interested in the fight against the lack of scruples and corruption.

“Knows how to use public resources to make elected officials stay honest,” the statement  says.

It says adds that the program will feature Maristella Aldana, former head of the Office of Institutional Integrity of the Inter-American Development Bank.

The legation is motivating people to submit their questions on the following points:

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

The role of the media and journalists in govt. transpa govt.rency.

How the private sector can help prevent corruption.

The regional challenges for accountability and anti-corruption initiatives in Latin America.
