Trough over Cuba prompts flash flood alerts for north region

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) on Wed. issued flash flooding alerts for five provinces as an “extensive cloud field” and a trough over Cuba are expected to bring downpours.

The COE said Montecristi, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, María Trinidad Sánchez and Santiago provinces are under flash flood alert.

The National Weather Office (Onamet) meanwhile forecasts increasing cloudiness with showers over the Northwest, North, Northeast, Southwest, Cordillera Central and border area.

Onamet adds that for tomorrow, Thursday, the frontal system will move towards the east-southeast approaching the Northwest and will increase humidity over the national territory.
