Retired captain’s death linked to journalist’s murder: CDN reports

Santo Domingo.- The retired National Police captain gunned down Monday night by two individuals on a motorcycle, was to testify in a hearing on Tuesday, in the 2011 murder case of the journalist José Silvestre, in La Romana.

Cándido Medina Sánchez, according to a source quoted by outlet cdn.com.do, was a State witness in murder of the journalist whose radio program focused on drug trafficking in the country’s east region.

Silvestre’s charred body was found in a wooded area in August, 2011, shortly before the main suspect, Matías Avelino Castro, was extradited from Colombia.
