The country has a 70% deficit in blood reserves

Santo Domingo.-  The Dominican or patients, and donations only arrive to cover 20 percent of the country’s needs, according to data provided Mon. by hematologists of the Referencia Banco de Sangre blood bank.

Blood bank medical deputy director, Diana Ramírez, provided the figures in a press conference, and announced a day of blood collection on June 8 and 9 in a shopping center in the capital, as part of the activities to mark World Blood Donor Day.

During the drive, aimed at encouraging people to donate blood to supply health services, educational materials on the importance of voluntary donation will be distributed and videos will be shown on the myths and taboos of donating.
