Police investigate rising use of belladonna in assaults

Santo Domingo.-  The increase in holdups in which the substance “burundanga” (scopolamine) is used concerns the population and has prompted an investigation.

Three doctors at a National District hospital were the victims of the most recent assault using the substance, on Saturday morning. The victims were interviewed Mon. by Police.

Police spokesman, Frank Félix Durán, said the a multi-agency task force has been designated as part of the investigation.

Belladonna

Burundanga, a psychotropic substance that renders a victim motionless, is found in several plants, mainly in Floripondio, known in the country as “Campana.”
