Troops help cops fight crime in barrios in three cities

Santo Domingo.- The military is supporting the National Police to beef up patrols in barrios to guarantee public safety nationwide, Defense minister Rubén Darío Paulino affirmed Tues.

He said the Armed Forces have intervened nine districts in Santiago, La Romana and San Juan de la Maguana, together with law enforcement agencies.

Paulino said he will meet with National Police director Ney Aldrin Bautista, to discuss the latest spate of crimes that have occurred across the country.

The general officer spoke after handing the keys for 18 new vehicles to the commanders of forces Armed Forces, to bolster border security and patrols in that area.
