Santo Domingo.- The country’s biggest association of bus owners (Fenatrano) on Monday morning lifted the unannounced walkout that stranded thousands of commuters at all the routes in and around Greater Santo Domingo.

Fenatrano vice president, Antonio Brito, offered the information after going to the Industry and Commerce Ministry, where police dispersed some of the drivers by firing tear gas.

He said the guild leaders will meet in the next few hours to decide which other ministry will be the target of their grievances, and didn’t rule out a nationwide strike.

He said for now they’ll take their demands to the Land Transport Institute (Intrant) and the National Palace.

Fenatrano demands a more transparent Hydrocarbons Law and lower fuel prices.
