Govt. sets forth ‘Safe Christmas’ in motion

SANTO DOMINGO. With a call to citizenship, prudence, and to do their part, yesterday began the first phase of the operation “Safe Christmas, A Pact for Life 2018-2019”, in which 22 govt. agencies take part.

Around 39,233 people were dispatched to the entire country with their work teams to assist the population in this first stage of the operation that begins today and ends on the 25th at 6:00 in the afternoon with the second phase starting on Sunday 30, at 2:00 pm, until January 1, 2019, at 6:00 in the afternoon.

The director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), Claudia Franchesca de Los Santos, said that the entire structure of the State will be on the streets taking care, but that all citizens need to do their part.

“The great effort we put forth as institutions will not have any result if our citizens do not do their part with prudence, respecting the rules of established transit, and respecting the instructions given by each of these institutions that are here,” she explained.

She recalled that from yesterday through December 25, heavy vehicles should not travel the streets and roads, except those that are authorized and warned that any others will be seized.
