Alleged drug trafficker kills Police colonel in southern city

Baní, Dominican Republic.-  The National Police local commander in the southern city was shot twice in the chest and killed on Tuesday afternoon, at a site that sold drugs.

The body of colonel Daniel Ramos Álvarez was taken to the morgue atthe Peravia province hospital.

The officer was fatally shot at around 2:30pm at the “Buche en Santa Cruz” where drugs were apparently sold, by suspects known as Gustavo and Buche, an unofficial source told El Nacional.

The senior officer was reportedly conducting an investigation into the sale of drugs, which led to the arrest of an unspecified number of alleged traffickers.
