Environment denies that Haitians are farming in national park

Santo Domingo.- Environment minister Ángel Estévez on Tues. refuted allegations that there are Haitians who are farming within Valle Nuevo National Park, Constanza (central).

In response to media reports on the illegal presence of Haitians in the protected area, the official affirmed that the foreigners are outside Valle Nuevo.

“There are Haitians everywhere working the land,” Estévez said to defend the agriculture reportedly taking place in Valle Nuevo, adding that it’s a high-tech project which “respects the area’s ecosystem.”
