Dangerous dust devil buffets NW, menaced locals

Montecristi, Dominican Republic.- A dangerous mini-tornado on Tuesday buffeted an area of Montecristi province (northwest), where it whipped up the sand and moved toward onlookers who stayed and risked their safety to record it .

A video posted on the social networks shows some people seemingly unaware of the quickly-approaching tornado, known as a “dust devil” in the US.

Thus far no victims or property damage have been reported by the whirlwind which quickly lost strength and dissipated.
