Total supermoon eclipse dazzles Dominicans

Santo Domingo.- Amazement reigned among Dominicans as a lunar eclipse yielded a ‘blood supermoon” seen across the country starting 10:36 on Sunday night.

The Moon, the Earth and the Sun lined up on celestial horizon Sunday night to create the eclipse visible from the entire American continent.

The supermoon is so named because it’s seen a bit larger and brighter than usual since its slightly closer to Earth.

The eclipse lasted more than three hours, becoming total when the Earth’s shadow completely draped its satellite.
