New Antinarcotics chief announces sweeping changes
Santo Domingo.- The new Drugs Control Directorate (DNCD) president Félix Alburquerque on Wednesday said he has adopted measures to restructure the entire agency and improve its image.
He said that an internal review process has been initiated with integrity tests where each agent observes a code of moral conduct, among others.
“We’re talking about comprehensive work together with the Prosecutor’s Office, we are talking about training and training, which will help to apply the consequence regime,” the official said.
Interviewed by Pablo McKinney on CDN, channel 37, Alburquerque said that president Danilo Medina ordered salary increases as high as 200% “from the bottom up.” An agent’s salary currently starts at RD$23,000 plus perks.
