Climate Change looms as world marks Wetlands Day

Santo Domingo.- The Environment and Natural Resources Ministry said Friday that it will celebrate World Wetlands Day on Saturday, February 2, under the 2019 theme, “Wetlands and Climate Change, we are not defenseless.”

In a statement Environment said the event aims to draw attention to how wetlands effectively contribute to counter the negative effects of climate change.

It indicated that it will coordinate several days of cleanup and reforest mangroves and talks and host seminars in various  provinces, among them La Altagracia, La Romana, El Seibo, San Cristobal, Azua, Pedernales, Montecristi, Puerto Plata and Peravia.
