Broken main: many sectors to get no water for at least 3 days
Santo Domingo.- Most of Greater Santo Domingo’s sectors, which are supplied by the Valdesia-Santo Domingo aqueduct, won’t get water for least three days, due to a major break in a 67-inch main.
Santo Domingo Aqueduct (CAASD) director Alejandro Montás said the break occurred in an aggregate production plant in Santo Domingo Oeste, and ordered an investigation to determine if it was vandalism.
“The repair work will start on Thursday morning, as the teams of engineers worked on the location of the rupture point of the pipeline, to proceed to correct it,” the official said.
He added that the magnitude of the damage means that repairs could take as long as 72 hours. “We’re investigating what caused the breakage, and if it was criminal hands, we will establish sanctions for the company or those responsible for the damage.”
