Canadian woman drowns in Sosua during scuba lessons

A Canadian tourist has drowned while she was taking scuba diving lessons at Las Tres Rocas beach, in Sosua to the east of Puerto Plata. The victim was identified as Jill Elizabeth Morgenthaler, aged 65. She was staying at the Viva Wyndham Tangerine Resort in Cabarete. Her body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Science (INACIF) in Santiago for autopsy.
