Truckers balk at ‘flighty’ ban on using passing lane

Santo Domingo.- Despite the National Traffic and Transport Institute (Intrant), Resolution 0001-2019 of January 10 which bans heavy vehicles from driving on the passing lane, truck drivers continue doing so daily.

Given the situation transport expert, Dary Terrero, said the violations occur because in the Dominican Republic, “there is an absence of inspection in the avenues and that prevents drivers of freight vehicles to respect that rule.”

He cautions that the Intrant has been issuing resolutions in a “flighty” manner, without first creating the mechanisms for the resolutions to be enforced.
