SW National Park blaze 80% under control

Santo Domingo.- The Environment Ministry on Mon. said the fire that chars thousands of pine forests and other varieties since yesterday at Sierra de Baoruco National Park is 80% under control

The Forestry crews are being helped by 50 Army soldiers from the Fifth Brigade, headquartered in Barahona (southwest).

In a statement, Environment said the blaze was detected in the same area where last week another fire was put out, but not before charring dozens of hectares of the Baoruco pine forests.
