Dominican nationality is up to Dominicans: nationalists

Santo Domingo.- The nationalist organization Instituto Duartiano on Friday said the issue of Dominican nationality rests solely with Dominicans, in which no international entity should interfere.

The entity which preserves the Founding Father Juan Pablo Duarte’s legacy responded to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (CorteIDH) resolution which reiterates its competence to hear cases of the Dominican Republic related to the right to nationality.

In an emailed statement, the Duartians stressed that Article 3 of the Dominican Constitution expresses in very clear and precise terms the “inviolability of sovereignty and the principle of nonintervention. The sovereignty of the Dominican Nation, a free State and independent of all foreign powers, is inviolable. “
