Free zones to bring 2,600 jobs, earn US$16M

Santo Domingo.- The National Export Free Zones Council (CNZFE) on Mon. approved the installation and operation of two new free zone parks, as well as 13 companies, which will create around 2,600 direct jobs.

In a Council meeting, Industry and Commerce minister, Nelson Toca, said the new companies have invested over RD$999 million to develop and operate productive activities and will earn US$16 million in hard currency.

The official said the two approved parks will invest more than RD$276 million, one to be built in Boca Chica, and the other in Nigua.

In a statement the Council added that among the activities of the approved companies figure aging and production of liquors, and international call centers.
