Confusion in US tourist’s brutal beating in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- The hotel chain Majestic Resorts in a statement Friday said they’re apprised of the case of US tourist Tammy Lawrence-Daley, who denounced being strangled, beaten and left for dead in a violent attack, while on vacation in that resort in Punta Cana.

“We emphasize that, since the occurrence of this unfortunate event, we have treated with due attention and monitoring the situation of Mrs. Lawrence-Daley,” the hotel said via Twitter.

It adds that the company “is working closely and proactively with local authorities, who diligently investigate the incident and all legal measures are being taken into consideration.”

Nonetheless Lawrence-Daley affirmed from her native Delaware that despite having lodged a complaint with the Office of the District Attorney at Higuey, she has yet to be given a copy.

Meanwhile her husband Christopher told nbcphiladelphia.com that the local police was lying, when a preliminary report cited “discrepancies” in his wife’s account of the brutal beating.
