David ‘Big Pappy’ Ortiz recovers from gunshot

Santo Domingo.- Former Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz (Big Pappy) is recovering from a single gunshot wound Sunday night after a confusing incident in Santo Domingo Este.

Ortiz is recovering at the Abel Gonzalez Clinic in the National District after surgery.

Local media report that Ortiz was shot in the back allegedly by Eddy Garcia Feliz, who has priors, and the bullet exited through his abdomen.

The famous player was in the company of television producer Jhoel López, who was also injured, in the Dial Bar & Lounge.

According to local media, the suspected shooter is in custody.
