Securities Exchange taps new chief after link to Odebrecht graft case

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Securities Exchange (BVRD) on Fri.  chose Joel Santos Echavarría as its new president, after serving as vice president.

“From this new role, I reiterate my commitment to maintain the agenda that we have been working on from the Board of Directors in the hands of the BVRD executive team, continuing with the work program stipulated to continue supporting the growth and consolidation of the country’s exchange market,” Santos said.

“The BVRD has been advancing the development of the country’s Exchange Market for over 30 years,” he said.

The move comes after Gregory Salcedo Llibre resigned the BVRD top post last week, in the wake of his alleged link to the Odebrecht graft case.
