Hundreds brave downpours for anti-reelection rally

Santo Domingo.- Former president Leonel Fernandez on Wed. headed a march to Congress with hundreds of supporter to protest against his ruling party PLD party rival president Danilo Medina’s attempt to amend the Constitution and pave the way for reelection.

During the walk to the area of govt. buildings, the PLD deputy and Fernandez supporter Henry Merán said they will confront an amendment “in any arena” and that Medina’s camp don’t have votes needed for Medina to compete in the 2020 election.

Speaking under a torrential downpour, the lawmaker specified that Medina is 40 votes short of accomplishing the amendment.
