Officials, diplomats discuss forgery in visa applications

Santo Domingo.- National District prosecutor, Rosalba Ramos, on Wed. met with National Police officials and officers of the embassies of Canada, Spain, the United States and France, to discuss issues related to counterfeiting and use of forged documents in visa applications.

Ramos labeled the meeting as of great importance, since “ideas were exchanged to refine strategies regarding the persecution of those who commit counterfeiting crimes to apply for visas in the different embassies.”

The meeting served to discuss common issues on the crimes of counterfeiting and “find the most appropriate solutions, which allow to curb those who in clear violation of the law are dedicated to counterfeit and use of false documents to apply for a visa that allows them to travel to the country of their interest.”
