Santo Domingo.- The federal court in Manhattan on Mon. charged former Dominican consul general in Jamaica, Jeremías Jiménez Cruz, and a codefendant, of conspiring to import at least five kilos of cocaine into the United States and conspiring to commit money laundering.

Jiménez allegedly used his private plane to transport the drug, in addition to using his post of Dominican government official to traffic large quantities of cocaine.

“It is alleged that Jeremías Jiménez Cruz used his position and resources to facilitate cocaine trafficking from the Dominican Republic to the United States,” said New York IRS-CI special agent Jonathan D. Larsen.
