Dominican Republic primaries to cost taxpayers US$45.1M

Santo Domingo.- The organization of next Sunday’s simultaneous primary, where only Dominican Republic’s ruling party (PLD), and the main opposition party (PRM) will participate, will cost taxpayers RD$42.4 billion (US$45.1 million).

Of the total, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) will contribute more than RD$1.2 billion, corresponding to the budget allocation it receives from the Executive Branch.

The PLD and the PRM will contribute RD$241.1 million, which corresponds to 40 percent of the State allotment.
