Tropical wave will cause downpours during this weekend

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) reported that yesterday (Saturday) a tropical wave hit the country from the morning hours of cloudy fields over the eastern portion of the country causing downpours, thunderstorms, and gusts of wind.

The Onamet indicated that for today (Sunday, Oct 20), early morning hours will be cloudy with rains and thunderstorms are forecast in some localities of the Caribbean coastal coast, due to the sufficient humidity and instability left by the tropical wave located in the western part of the country.

It will also create an increase in cloudiness in the afternoon accompanied by downpours, being moderate to strong at times, thunderstorms and gusts of wind, mainly towards the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Central Cordillera, the border area and the Greater Santo Domingo regions.

It also reports on tropical storm Nestor located about 125 km southwest of Apalachicola, Florida, United States, has winds of 85 km/h, is moving northeast at 28 km/hThis system due to its distance does not represent a danger to our country.
