US Embassy inducts 37 new Peace Corps volunteers
Santo Domingo.- US Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Dominican Republic director, Art Brown, administered the oath to 37 new Peace Corps volunteer technicians, who will work in the country for two years on projects focused on youth development and children’s literacy.
During the ceremony, held at the agency’s Training Center, Brown stressed that the volunteers will support the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Women, the Community Technology Centers of the Vice Presidency and other community groups in nine provinces.
He also congratulated the new volunteers for their dedication, commitment and willingness to share their knowledge and American culture with the Dominican people.
The volunteers recently completed an intensive 10-week training before joining their work colleagues in different communities.
The event was attended by Dominican govt. officials, United States Embassy staff and Peace Corps executives
