Men beat a 76-year-old motoconcho to rob him of his motorcycle in Montecristi
A 76-year-old motoconcho in this municipality was brutally beaten by a Haitian who had hired him, leaving him for dead. He then fled with another employee who was waiting for him in sector 40 of the Manolo Tavares highway. Ramón Emilio Rosa Santana, 76, a resident of San Fernando de Montecristi’s Los Maestros neighborhood, was the victim of the attack by the foreigners wielding a stick and a machete.
The “motoconchista” has DX blunt trauma to the skull as well as blows and wounds to various parts of his body. After being admitted to a private medical facility, a specialist hospital in Santiago was recommended to him because of his precarious health. The aggressor’s victim described how a man of Haitian nationality arrived at the Los Pinos stop, which is in the middle of San Fernando between Duarte and Mella avenues, and asked for a motoconcho’s services.
A fellow countryman was waiting for him when they reached sector 40 of the Manolo Tavares Justo highway, which connects the province of Montecristi with the city of Dajabón, and the passenger then struck him, sending them both to the ground. The foreigner had instructed him to take him to the Batey Jaramillo. The Haitians continued to beat and cut the Dominican while he was lying on the pavement until he was left for dead and awoke three hours later.
Members of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) of the National Police in Dajabón found the victim’s stolen Haojue motorcycle, with the red license plate K1724727, when foreigners attempted to cross the border into Haiti through the La Vigia community but were unsuccessful. As a result, the authorities are now pursuing them.
