The Los Alcarrizos cable car, which will connect this municipality to the other demarcations of Greater Santo Domingo, will soon become part of the mass transportation network, which has become the primary mode of transportation for thousands of Dominicans in recent years. This strategic project aims to address the area’s transportation chaos and is more than 85% complete.

Julio José Ramirez, in charge of Works Supervision at the Trust for the Development of the Dominican Republic’s Mass Transportation System (Fitram), made the announcement. The challenges of growth and mobility have prompted a search for alternatives to traditional modes of urban transportation, including this type of vehicle, which has traditionally been associated with tourist attractions in the country (such as the one in Puerto Plata).

The cable cars if well maintained will provide years of beneficial service to the public. Just think being above it all, no traffic jams, risking one’s way into the street traffic to catch a publico, or wading through pools of water in the rain to mount a bus.
