Firearms, hundreds of ammunition rounds and narcotics seized in tanks shipped from U.S.

Police agents assigned to the Special Investigation Division of Transnational Crimes (DEIDET), together with the Customs Intelligence Management (GIA), seized a total of five pistols, 13 magazines, 158 capsules, 40 explosives, 31,550 dollars in cash, and several portions of presumed marijuana, during an operation against an organization dedicated to the smuggling of firearms.

As a result of the information gathered yesterday against the criminal organization and other investigative actions, members of this Division, members of Customs, DNCD teams, and agents of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Preventive Police, went to the province of Barahona, with the purpose of executing the search and arrest warrant No. 2022-TAUT-04862 subscribed by the Courts of Instruction of the Judicial District of Santo Domingo, in their powers of administrative measures.
