Anyone can apply to be a school driver

Hugo Beras, director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), stated yesterday that citizens who wish to participate in the school mobility plan may do so without restriction. Hugo Beras, director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (Intrant), stated yesterday that citizens who want to participate in the school mobility plan are free to do so. Beras stated during the launch of the first stage of school transportation, which began yesterday simultaneously in Monte Plata, La Victoria, and Haina, that not only motorcycle drivers or motoconchistas who work in those demarcations, but “all Dominicans who have the capacity” will be integrated.
“Not only motoconchos drivers, but all Dominicans who have the capacity, pass the tests, and submit to the curriculum that we have, will be able to participate,” he said. “Everyone who can provide the service will participate here. There are established regulations and parameters for the school transportation service; this has been done with a very technical nature and a very strong foundation,” he stated.
He stated that the entity created an educational curriculum that will teach and train drivers through its school. “Anyone who wants to participate,” Beras said, adding that the goal is to have transportation in the education system by next school year. “The pilot is designed so that the model and the result, as well as the signals, can be seen. Everything is now planned,” said Intrant’s director.
Moving in the right direction, step by step the country is moving forward
Anybody can apply is good. The question of many is what standards are to be applied to make sure the school driver is an upright person, legally licensed, and competent to fully carryout his/her task with no exception every school day? Will their vehicle be fully insured and safe?
