The Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) and the Ministry of Defense (MIDE) signed a collaboration agreement that will allow military personnel and their immediate family members to study at this academy on scholarship. According to the agreement, the PUCMM will offer a maximum of 20 scholarships per academic year to military members, their spouses, and children, covering 40% of the total cost of tuition for careers in Business Administration, Law, Design and Interior Design, Ecology and Environmental Management, Economics, Marketing, Psychology, and continuous training programs. Similarly, for Medicine, Engineering, postgraduate, and master’s degrees, it will cover 20% of the total tuition cost. These scholarships will only cover university tuition and will not cover doctoral programs or dual degree programs.

“For the amounts not exempted, PUCMM will grant an educational loan at the request of the beneficiary who meets the requirements for said credits,” states the agreement, which was signed this Thursday by the rector of PUCMM, father doctor Secilio Espinal, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Diaz Morfa, and the rector of the INSUDE “General Juan Pablo Duarte y Diaz,” Brigadier General Francisco Antonio Ovalle Pichardo. “When people have the opportunity to get a higher education they are valued, respected, and promoted.

In his closing remarks, Minister Diaz Morfa emphasized the Ministry of Defense’s ongoing commitment to “human development, by the needs of our country and our people.”
