DGII sues counterfeiters of car tags

The General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) reported three men to the Public Ministry’s Tax Crimes Investigation Unit for falsifying identification tags. Rafael Antonio Bautista Viloria, Rafael Núñez Lopez, and Juan Heredia Peralta are the defendants, who were arrested in flagrante delicto by the National Police on Tuesday, February 7th.

During a routine operation by the National Police Counterfeit Investigation Department, Bautista Viloria and Núñez Lopez were apprehended with 72 and 11 false motor vehicle tags, respectively, in the vicinity of the Enriquillo park in the San Carlos sector, National District. The Public Ministry had already submitted Bautista Viloria as a result of a complaint filed by the DGII on November 16, 2022, when he was also arrested in flagrante delicto by the National Police for the same forgery acts. 199 false tags were seized on that occasion.

As a result, the Permanent Attention Court of the National District imposed an economic guarantee as a coercive measure, as well as the prohibition on leaving the country without authorization and the obligation to appear before the judge on a regular basis.
