Police kill suspect involved in the case of a couple from La Guáyiga

According to the National Police, agents from the Central Investigation Directorate (Dicrim) engaged in a shootout with José Álvarez (also known as “El bebé”), resulting in his death. Álvarez had been sought by security organizations for his alleged involvement in the murder of Elizabeth Almarante Pacheco and Luis Miguel Jáquez Rodríguez, a married couple from the La Guáyiga community.

Diego Pesqueria, a spokesman for the institution, stated that the police encountered three individuals with a suspicious profile on Avenida Ecológica, near the Samaná highway on Tuesday night. The suspects reportedly opened fire on the agents, resulting in Álvarez’s death. Pesqueria indicated that the two individuals accompanying Álvarez fled the scene, while authorities recovered a .380 pistol from him.

“An alert had been issued against José Álvarez and his brother, who are identified as the perpetrators of the act,” said Pesqueria, who also noted that reports suggest Álvarez lived in close proximity to the septic tank where the couple’s bodies were found on February 7. The case remains under investigation, and authorities will provide further details after analyzing the results of their reports.
