High temperatures are recorded over the Dominican Republic, despite rains

Santo Domingo.- According to the National Meteorological Office (Onamet), the Dominican Republic can expect hot temperatures for this time of year, despite the rains in some regions. The warm wind from the southeast, combined with dust particles from Africa and intense solar radiation, will contribute to the hot conditions.

Provinces such as Santiago, La Vega, Samaná, Montecristi, and San Juan can anticipate maximum temperatures ranging from 33°C to 35°C. Greater Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, Duarte, Peravia, San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, Monseñor Nouel, San Cristóbal, and Azua are expected to experience maximum temperatures between 31°C and 33°C. Barahona and La Altagracia provinces should prepare for maximum temperatures between 32°C and 34°C. Minimum temperatures across most provinces will range from 20°C to 23°C.

Onamet emphasized that the warm wind from the southeast, combined with dust particles from Africa and intense solar radiation, will continue to create a highly hot thermal sensation for the population. They advised the public to wear light-colored clothing, avoid direct exposure to solar radiation without proper protection between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., and stay hydrated by consuming plenty of fluids, preferably water.
