Homero Figueroa: The Dominican Republic has not accepted and will not accept any initiative that affects national sovereignty

Santo Domingo.- Homero Figueroa, the spokesman for the Presidency and director of Government Strategy and Communication in the Dominican Republic reiterated the country’s stance on national sovereignty. He affirmed that the Dominican Republic has not accepted and will not accept any initiative that compromises its sovereignty.

Figueroa emphasized that the country’s policy on this matter remains unchanged, in line with the statements made by Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez. Through his Twitter account, Figueroa, as the spokesman for President Luis Abinader, made it clear that the Dominican Republic is committed to protecting its sovereignty and will not engage in any initiatives that jeopardize it.

Citing historical reasons, Figueroa highlighted that the Dominican Republic cannot participate in any initiative that involves direct actions in Haiti. Instead, the country will continue to advocate for the international community’s involvement in finding a definitive solution to the crisis in Haiti.

These statements affirm the Dominican Republic’s commitment to upholding its sovereignty while actively seeking a collaborative approach to addressing the challenges faced by its neighboring country, Haiti.
