Leonel: “No more excuses” from the government to address insecurity

Leonel Antonio Fernández Reyna

Former Dominican President Leonel Fernandez, leader of the Dominican political opposition, warned today about the situation of insecurity in the country.

“Insecurity takes away the tranquility of Dominican families. The fear of losing one’s life or being the object of assault is traumatic and heartbreaking,” said Leonel Fernández in a video posted on his social networks.

He pointed out that fear limits the prosperity of the people. “Young people tell me how they are robbed of their phones in the streets. Many of them obtained it through a “cambiozo” with the telephone company. Mothers also tell me about the fear they have for their children. A country where the people live in fear will never be prosperous,” specified the presidential aspirant of the People’s Force.

“To begin to reverse the current situation and generate greater security, excuses must end and start with concrete actions,” he continued.

Faced with the insecurity situation, the president of Fuerza del Pueblo recommended:

Use technology to prevent crime. Know which are the areas with more problems and reinforce the presence of security forces.
Implement more education, training, employment, and support plans for young entrepreneurs in all neighborhoods. Open doors to opportunities to close doors to crime.

New prison policy system. With the obligation of training and work for inmates. Prisons cannot be places where crimes and deceit are produced.

Leonel had years to establish a foundation for the country’s security. He should not be throwing stones in a glass house.

What a joke is Leonel, he could of increased the wage of the police like Luis did, invest more in security of the country. Instead he and his buddies where to busy stealing. This current government is doing more for the country than the PLD did all the years they was in power and Luis only been in office for 4 years now
