OAS denies false claims of invalidity in Dominican municipal elections

Santo Domingo.- The Electoral Observation Mission of the Organization of American States (OAS) refuted on Sunday the false information circulating on social media regarding an alleged final report claiming the invalidity of the recent municipal electoral process in the Dominican Republic.

The mission, led by coordinator Eladio Loizaga, categorically dismissed the content of the misinformation, affirming that the municipal elections conducted on February 18 were characterized by transparency and overall success.

In a text message posted on his Twitter account, Loizaga addressed the situation, stating, “This is misinformation. We acknowledge that the Central Electoral Board (JCE) ensured transparent municipal elections and effective organization.”

The inaccurate message circulating on social media falsely asserts that the OAS electoral observation body does not recognize the validity of the municipal elections held last Sunday, labeling them as an international disgrace.
