Collado inaugurates road to boost tourism in Jarabacoa

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, has officially inaugurated the reconstruction of the Belarmino Ramírez road from Mata de Cadillo to Jumunuco in Jarabacoa, marking a significant investment of over 80 million pesos. This endeavor is a testament to Collado’s commitment to fortify the region’s status as a premier tourist destination.

The project entails the revitalization of a pivotal road axis spanning 3.34 kilometers and boasting a width of 7 linear meters, providing essential access to the community of Jumunuco. Additionally, the initiative incorporates the installation of 6,680 linear meters of gutters along the road’s edges to facilitate longitudinal drainage.

Collado emphasized the profound impact of the undertaking on the entire area, enhancing the quality of life for its residents. “No project is too small or too large for us. What matters most is the positive impact on the community and the improvement of its people’s livelihoods,” he stated.

Furthermore, Collado pledged to collaborate with the private sector to implement further measures aimed at bolstering tourism development and growth in Jarabacoa.

The comprehensive project encompasses the construction of 261 square meters of sidewalks and 90 linear meters of containers within the affected communities. Additionally, a 210 square meter parking area has been established to accommodate the 911 emergency unit.

Key infrastructure elements such as the reconstruction of four existing manholes, installation of two culverts measuring 36″ and 24″, and the creation of three speed bumps to ensure proper water flow have been implemented to ensure the road’s longevity.

The meticulous execution of the project, including road cleaning, asphalt concrete placement, and road marking (both horizontal and vertical), underscores the government’s commitment to quality and efficiency.

The initiative was overseen by the Tourist Zone Infrastructure Execution Committee (Ceiztur) and required a total investment of RD$80,747,806.09.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent municipal and provincial authorities as well as stakeholders from the tourism sector, demonstrating unified support for the region’s development and prosperity.
