Duartiano Institute rejects UN request

Santo Domingo.- The president of the Duartiano Institute, Wilson Gómez Ramírez, has condemned the United Nations Organization’s recent call for the Dominican Republic to accommodate more Haitian nationals under refugee status, describing it as a new attack against the country.

In a statement, Gómez Ramírez asserted that this demand is another assault on the Dominican Republic’s sovereignty and represents the absurdity underlying the indifference of various international organizations and powerful nations, including the United States, Canada, and France.

He emphasized the need for unity among Dominicans in defending the nation’s independence and sovereignty, invoking the legacy of Juan Pablo Duarte, the founding father of the Dominican Republic.

Gómez Ramírez vehemently rejected the claims of foreign entities and criticized Dominicans who align with these interests, branding them as traitors. He advocated for continued and reinforced repatriation efforts for illegal and undocumented foreigners, particularly Haitians, citing their significant impact on the country’s resources and budget.

The statement emphasized the importance of supporting the General Directorate of Immigration both financially and logistically to ensure the effective enforcement of migration laws and uphold the sovereignty of the Dominican Republic.

Nothing more needs to be said. We stand with you, Mr. Gomez Ramirez.

It’s like asking the Kurdistan region to accept ISIS refugees. It’s unacceptable for obvious reasons.

Make more accommodation, BS! There has been more than enough accommodation from the RD. There are limits to the RD’s charity and patience. The best accommodation is for the UN to curtail the refuge immigration by sending troops to Haiti to keep order, to stop the flow of migrants across the border.

Yes but it is the individual nations that send the troops. Canada , France and the USA have refused . The Haitian people need security.

The expenses concerning Haitians in the Dominican Republic are minor compared to the $1 billion dollar trade surplus which the Dominican Republic gains from Haiti.
