Arajet and Boeing’s cadet program trains first Dominican pilots

Santo Domingo.- Arajet Airlines, in partnership with Boeing aircraft manufacturer, has announced the nearing completion of academic training for the first two Dominican cadet pilots. These individuals, José Mauríz and Carlos Martínez, have undergone comprehensive training adhering to global standards, equipping them to enter the aviation job market as first officers.

In a recent press release, Arajet Airlines highlighted the achievement as a significant milestone, marking a new chapter of opportunities for young Dominicans aspiring to become pilots. Both Mauríz and Martínez are poised to commence their duties aboard Arajet aircraft, signaling a promising future for local talent in the aviation industry.

Víctor Pacheco Méndez, CEO & Founder of Arajet, expressed the airline’s commitment to bolstering its pilot team with Dominican professionals. He emphasized the importance of nurturing local talent and fostering their skills and expertise to contribute to the sector’s growth in the country.

Méndez stated, “For Arajet, establishing a Dominican airline also entails knowledge transfer to local talent. We aim not only to train pilots but also various aviation technicians, consolidating our position as a national flagship carrier supported by local collaborators across all domains.”

The aspiring first officers conveyed their gratitude for the support received through the program, acknowledging the rigorous training, simulator sessions, and educational resources provided by Arajet. They expressed excitement about the historic opportunity to enhance their skills and prepare for careers in commercial aviation.

Arajet Airlines disclosed plans to initiate the second phase of the program, comprising competency interviews, simulator assessments, and technical knowledge evaluations to offer educational opportunities adhering to global standards.

The airline reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the aviation sector in the Dominican Republic, aiming to position the country as the preferred hub for Caribbean connections.

So far Arajet has a good safety record. Let’s keep it that way. Don’t ruin it with nationalism!!
