Seven people injured after multiple accident on the Eastern Highway

La Romana—Seven persons were injured in a traffic accident involving an equal number of vehicles on the Eastern Highway near the Cumayasa bridge in Villa Hermosa, La Romana province.

Preliminary reports indicate that among the injured, there is a girl, two pregnant women, and the driver of a passenger bus.

Among the injured were identified Altagracia Gómez Matos and Grissel Estefany Santos Areche, both pregnant women, a 16-year-old minor, and Francisco Santos Medina. They were taken by ambulances of the National System of Emergency Attention and Security (9.1.1) to nearby health centers.

According to 9.1.1., the accident occurred around 11:00 a.m.. After an emergency call, units were deployed to respond and attend the event, including four ambulances from the Dirección de Servicios de Atención a Emergencias Extrahospitalarias (DAEH).

Crash involving two patanas
The chain collision involved two trucks loaded with sacks of sugar, a truck full of sausages, a Toyota and a Hyundai, a Sichoem public transport bus, and a CRV, among other affected vehicles.

Preliminary data from the authorities indicate that the accident occurred when the driver of one of the trucks maneuvered to avoid a traffic jam formed by another accident on the bridge, which caused him to lose control and hit several vehicles traveling on the road, causing the chain collision.
