Civil Aviation Board reverses suspension of Venezuelan air operations

Santo Domingo.- Dr. José Ernesto Marte Piantini, President of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), announced the reversal of the decision to revoke all passenger and cargo air operations, both regular and non-scheduled, for Venezuelan air operators, effective Monday, May 27.

This decision follows a telephone conversation with Venezuela’s Minister of Transportation, Ramón Velásquez, during which they agreed to establish a working group and review the bilateral air transport agreement between the two countries. The focus will be on route assignments and frequencies to modernize the agreement for the benefit of airlines from both nations.

Dr. Marte Piantini assured that air operations between the two countries will continue as normal.

Prior to his conversation with Minister Velásquez, Dr. Marte Piantini met with executives of Venezuelan airlines operating in the Dominican Republic. He informed them that, as part of the Dominican Republic’s open skies policy, which supports the multiple designation of airlines and facilitates market access to promote healthy competition among national and foreign operators, the JAC remains committed to advocating for the development of air transport within a framework of equal conditions.
