COE issues Yellow Alert for seven provinces and National District

Santo Domingo.- Due to forecasted continued rainfall, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) has issued a yellow alert for seven provinces and the National District, while placing another 18 provinces on green alert.

The provinces under yellow alert include Hato Mayor, El Seibo, San Pedro de Macorís, Santo Domingo, La Altagracia, Monte Plata, and San Cristóbal.

Those under green alert are La Vega, Puerto Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago, Monseñor Nouel, La Romana, María Trinidad Sánchez, Samaná, Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Peravia, Pedernales, Duarte, Azua, Dajabón, Montecristi, San José de Ocoa, and Barahona.

The COE predicts that cloud formations will persist due to a trough affecting various levels of the troposphere, coupled with the approach of a tropical wave near the eastern part of the national territory. These conditions are expected to cause moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and gusty winds from early morning in the northeast and Caribbean coastal regions.

In the afternoon, these precipitations are expected to intensify towards towns in the northwest, Cibao Valley, Central Mountain Range, and border areas.
