Christine Lamothe: New Chargé d’Affaires at Haitian Embassy in Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Christine Lamothe was installed yesterday as the new Chargé d’Affaires ai at the Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic during a well-attended ceremony at the diplomatic headquarters.

Lamothe succeeds Luc Garvey Jean-Pierre, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship in Port-au-Prince.

With six years of diplomatic experience at the Haitian Embassy in Brazil, Lamothe has held various high-responsibility positions. In 2021, she was transferred to the Haitian diplomatic mission in Santo Domingo.

Lamothe completed most of her secondary education in the Dominican Republic before moving to Mexico with her father, Ambassador Guy Lamothe, who headed the Haitian Embassy there. In Mexico, she studied International Relations and specialized in migration issues and organizational administration.

In her first remarks, Lamothe thanked the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of Haiti, Dominique Dupuy, for appointing her to this significant and strategic diplomatic mission. She also expressed gratitude to Luc Garvey Jean-Pierre for his service at the embassy and acknowledged the commitment of the diplomatic and contractual staff to pursue diplomacy characterized by service, excellence, collaboration, and cooperation.

During the ceremony, Lamothe pledged to promote closer diplomatic relations and recognized the contributions of the Haitian diaspora in the Dominican Republic. Her administration aims to strengthen economic, cultural, and scientific ties between the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
