Mayor’s Office undertakes visual decontamination project in the Capital

Santo Domingo.- The Mayor’s Office of the National District is executing an ambitious project to enhance urban aesthetics and reduce visual pollution on the capital’s main roads. Led by the Directorate of Innovation and Special Projects, this initiative aims to organize telephone cables and remove disused ones that clutter poles, trees, and traffic signs.

The visual decontamination project focuses initially on cleaning sections of major avenues including Mexico, Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Gustavo Mejia Ricart, Maximo Gomez, Independence, Sarasota, Cesar Nicolas Penson, and Tiradentes. So far, the teams have successfully completed work on Maximo Gomez and Abraham Lincoln Avenues. With 40 percent of the project completed, it is expected to conclude by August 14.

This effort is part of a broader initiative by the council to improve the urban environment and enhance the well-being of National District residents. The mayor’s office highlights that such projects not only beautify streets but also promote a more orderly and functional city.
