President Abinader appoints new consul general in Boston
Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader appointed Antonio Almonte as the Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Boston, Massachusetts, through decree 444-24, following his four-year tenure as Minister of Energy and Mines.
The same decree also named Enrique García Sánchez as Ambassador to the Internal Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following his role as Consul General in Boston.
Wondering how being the former Minister of Energy and Mining now qualifies him as Consul General? His appointment reinforces the catchphrase of “It’s who you know, not what you know.”
When is government, any government at that, going to appoint a career foreign service person to a high diplomatic post? Need people who know the structure and how to manage it to lead.
