Stay in or go out? Here’s what the weather will be like this weekend

Santo Domingo – The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) reported that this Saturday, the country will experience a significant increase in cloudiness and precipitation due to several atmospheric factors.

The combination of local effects, the approach of a tropical wave, and the influence of a trough at various levels of the troposphere will generate conditions for scattered downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts.

The most affected areas include Hato Mayor, El Seibo, Monte Plata, Greater Santo Domingo, Sánchez Ramírez, Samaná, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, Elías Piña, Santiago Rodríguez, Dajabón, and nearby regions. The most significant impact is forecast for Saturday afternoon when cloud increases are expected to dump considerable rainfall.

INDOMET has also warned that weather conditions will remain unstable during Sunday and Monday.

The passage of the tropical wave and the trough’s persistence at different levels of the troposphere will bring clouds accompanied by locally moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts.

These conditions will affect provinces in the north and east of the country, the Caribbean coast, the Central Mountain Range, and the border area.

Authorities recommend the population be attentive to weather updates and take the necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides.
